Core Values
Katie Reginato Cascamo is a leadership scholar-practitioner currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies at Gonzaga University. Katie has over 20 years of experience in organizational development, culture transformation, talent performance optimization, and workforce empowerment in healthcare, education, and social services.
As the founder of Courageous Steps, Katie collaborates with organizations to drive strategic change, professional development, and equitable solutions. Guided by servant leadership, she is committed to amplifying the voices of those most affected by institutional decision-making. A social scientist, she develops and trains patient and community leaders—ensuring that lived experiences are integrated into policy and system-wide transformation. Her expertise spans interdisciplinary training and partnership-building with healthcare leaders, educators, policymakers, and industry partners to create sustainable, impactful solutions.
Her advocacy is deeply personal. After her son’s premature birth in 2009, Katie became a champion for maternal mental health, neonatal care, and patient-family partnerships. She coined the term NICU Parent Leader to recognize the critical role parents play in improving healthcare systems. Working alongside clinical leaders and policymakers, she develops advocacy strategies that drive meaningful change.
A dedicated educator, Katie has taught over 25 leadership courses in Organizational Leadership, Management & Human Skills at Golden Gate University and the University of Arkansas Fort Smith. She discovered her passion for education at GGU, where she found alignment between her social justice values and the institution’s commitment to underrepresented students. Through leadership development and systemic reform, she fosters resilient organizations and thriving communities.
